Nice Life

I live in Tel Aviv - "The City with The Parking Problem" - in a nasty randown appartment, with a super-bitch room mate who leaves hair in the shower and dishes in the sink. I have no internet, no cables, not even a computer, nor a television. I dont do shopping, I don't do cooking, i don't do laundry, and i don't do kids.
i'm happy.
my other room mate is a kick ass italian chick who's producing an independent arab-israeli movie here. and i'm looking for a new appartment anyway, that I should move into in january, after i'm back from my family reunion in California.
I dance 3-4 times a week. do a lot of yoga. on sunday and tuesday nights i go listen to music in the cafe around the corner and chat in spanish with the singer. weekends are a frenzy of friends and coffee, successful-women-from-third-world-countries biographies and fringe cinema sessions with my italian.
even though i already have my second career all planned, and i always carry a sleeping bag and a tent in the trunk of my car - just in case, work is great! i'm taking it really easy. a lot of tea breaks. taking my time to study the human material. every time i discover more and more cool stuff that my geeky coworkers do, from playing weird instruments and speaking exotic languages to practicing martial arts, rock climbing, and playing poker. some people just dont know what to do with their money!
the only thing that separates me from the final goal, as they say in budhism, is to find a permanent apartment. then i will start saving the world.

a short israeli story. last weekend i went to a meditation festival. lots of young people wearing indian colorful clothes in a beatiful camp in the middle of the desert on a cliff overlooking the dead sea. every one is into hugging, drinking chai, and 'aum'ing together. peace on earth has come. so many people were wearing white clothes, that you wouldnt know who's the messiah anymore.
To make it clear that it's not Dharmsala or San Francisco, the meditation camp was adjucent to a regular army base, so every once in a while, between the nirvanic people you could spot a stray soldier in a uniform carrying a gun. i think i've only noticed it because sometimes i look at my life as blog post. really, seeing a soldier in a meditation camp is the same as seeing one on a bus, in a department store or in the cinema. they are us and we are them.
with so many soldiers it's really safe here :)
