Salta
I fell in love.
with the city, with the music and dancing, with an indian boy
in Salta i stayed for 3 weeks, which is a lifetime for a traveler. 5 days are already a lifetime, so its already about 4 lifetimes that i've been there.
my first life was the spanish classes i took with Graciela. i've learned some exquisit grammatic structures and also that there's nothing wrong with taxi drivers and flower shop keepers trying to pick me up because the ration of men to women in Salta is about 1:9 in favor of the ladies, and if that's not enough salta boasts a very large gay community.
my second life was the music. Salta is the cradle of argentinian folklore, and I'm the adorer of old-fashioned music, full of pathos and patriotism, sang by old men with hoarse voices, raised back in the times when you could die from love. Salta as well is unique for being one of only few places where folklore is also performed by young sexy men, who sweet-talk you with the words of that old generation of singers, with no intention to die from love or alike. so i was saduced by this little chacarera dancer, who picked me up in a restaurant, and me who'd even socialize with the homeless in the parc, saw the potential of exploring the cultural depths of this country, agreed, under the condition that he comes dressed in his spectacular gaucho suit, the sombrero and the high-heall boots. and teaches me how to dance. he came, dressed to the nines, gave me a chacarera lesson, and then another lesson of how to dismantle an atomic bomb. or more precisely how to never trust a latino argentino. to make a long story short, he broke my heart, with a hammer, which came as a surprise to me, because i never saw it coming from this little man, shorter than i, who didnt exactly know where my country is located on the map and was quite annoyed when i didnt understand what he was whispering in my year in his weird spanish. but he did. i was trapped. and it hurt.
but i'm whole again. and happy as a bee :) seems like the meer act of moving from place to place has this magical property of curing almost anything. ready for new adventures.
my third life was the city.
my forth life was my friends. finally some people that are just staying there and will always come back
