a Lonely Planet post

Buenos is enormous! with it's 14 million citizens, some weird combination of Barcelona and Manhattan, with ubiquitous taxis and straight one way streets, some of them as wide as 10 lanes in one direction. needless to remark on how european the architecture is, but right under the monumental victorian facades old men and children are digging in garbage begs, scattering the garbage all over otherwise already filthy street. the sidewalks are often broken but seldomly repaired. in the university campus building countless posters call to differents sorts of protests revealing the national discomfort with their empty pockets and souls hungry for yet another revolution. 40% under poverty line, 10% unemployment and a shattered middle class. Just dont mention the Falkland Islands, sais the Lonely Planet, better talk to them about socker.
There are policemen on every other corner in the city center, keeping an eye, but dpnt go to the slums, they wont help u there; a notable lack of backeries, and a courageous disregard of traffic lights crossing those 10 lane roads right infront of the policemen. tango and empanadas are everywhere. the weather is good and the spirits are high. and when something goes wrong, just say "mañana por la mañana"
